Nayarit, Mexico. November 2019 and March 2020.
To the beach! These photos were taken over two trips to the coastal state of Nayarit in November 2019 and March 2020. I spent most of the time in Sayulita, but also visited Punta Mita, and drove across the state from Guadalajara. Sayulita is a popular surfing destination that is small, relaxed, and easily approachable. Crowds are plentiful, but the sandy beaches, taco stands, and cocktail bars make that easy to forgive. During the trip in November, I stayed in a house in the hills above the town together with 12 other people. There was surfing, fishing, and tequila in abundance. In March, I was traveling solo and stayed at the Don Bonito Hotel near the center of town. I had just finished a Spanish intensive course in Puerto Vallarta and was excited to spend time on the beach and in the waters, as well as sitting by the pool reading. My time in Mexico ended prematurely as the pandemic required me to return to Portland, but I’m so thankful for the time I had. Enjoy these photos of Nayarit!
